17 snow groomers have been equipped with SNOWsat from Kässbohrer Geländefahrzeug AG just this year in Switzerland's Jungfrau ski region with its unique and world-famous panorama of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.
The complete ski region stretches from the resorts of Grindelwald-First, Grindelwald-Kleine Scheidegg and Männlichen to Wengen and soars up to an altitude of almost 3,000 metres. The Jungfrau ski region with its unique backdrop and world-renowned Jungfraujoch-Top of Europe is a first-class winter sports destination. 40 ropeways and ski lifts whisk guests up to the snow action. Around 206 km of superbly groomed slopes offer something to suit every taste from simple to challenging runs.
The production of machine-made snow is a considerable cost factor in a ski resort. All the more so when you're dealing with 206 km of slopes! In these circumstances, the decision to invest in SNOWsat was an easy one. Thanks to satellite-guided snow depth measurement, the region can now shift the existing natural snow with extreme precision. This has a decisive impact on the volume of snow that needs to be produced. Savings of impressive proportions are, thus, assured and the investment will pay for itself in just a few years.
Meanwhile all vehicles are equipped with SNOWsat – ready for more sustainable and more cost-effective management of the snow
